Past programs

MGA has presented many successful programs for teachers and students. Here are reports of some.

 

Geography Workshops:
Westfield State University hosted the Massachusetts Geographic Alliance for Part I (of two) geography workshops for twenty  K-12 teachers on Saturday, November 9th. Presenters included Professor Vernon Domingo, Susan Keane, Julie Spencer-Robinson, and Arlene Kowal with varied topics focusing on geography. 

Educator Session:
Elms College, Chicopee, MA hosted the Massachusetts Geographic Allliance on October 31, 2013  for an educators session on teaching about geography.  Presenting were Dot Verheyen-Cudjoe, Sue Keane, and Arlene Kowal.  A spring session is also planned.

"Maps and their Stories" : In summer 2010, MGA organized a 2 week program for teachers examining the nature and authorship of maps, both ancient and modern. This was presented at the Norman B. Leventhal Map Center at the Boston Public Library. The photo shows some participants with a copy of the 1886 British empire map.
